This transvaginal ultrasound scan is for women who want to check the position of their Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (coil). It will confirm the presence of the coil and its location.
We will provide a report and are able to offer advice and recommendations. We can send the report and images to your GP if required.

Our ultrasound technicians can not make a medical diagnosis and you should always attend your prenatal scans as advised by your midwife. However, if we do pick up something that should cause us any concern during your ultrasound, we will, with your permission, refer you to the relevant department within the NHS.

Maternity Care in Hospital

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) have expressed the importance of continuing to receive antenatal care during the Coronavirus outbreak:

“It is really important that you continue to attend your scheduled routine care when you are well. If you have symptoms of possible coronavirus infection, you should contact your midwife to postpone routine visits until after the isolation period is over.”
